We sat down with Physique57's Torrey Harada to chat about why movement is such an important part of our lives. Strength training is trending, however, we can both agree that this trend is here to stay. Physique57 has introduced two new complimentary classes; Strength & Ignite. Both intentionally design to help you build physical endurance and invoke fire from within.

Tell me about your relationship with fitness and how it has evolved over time.:
My relationship with fitness began early as a childhood dancer who had lots of energy! What started as a physical outlet became a way of life. I moved on to traditional fitness classes and intense trainings to supplement my dance career. My workouts became very intense and my goals were more superficial and negative body image based. While trying to find a balance between pushing myself too far and achieving my desired results, I realized how much fitness brought me mental clarify and endurance. My journey with Physique 57 helped me find a healthy balance and direction. Throughout my pregnancies and now as a mother of two, I am proud to say my relationship with fitness is the healthiest it has ever been. My goals have shifted from achieving a certain look, to focusing on longevity and strength to be the best version of myself physically and mentally for my family.
What are you passionate about?
Movement! I believe wholeheartedly that every body craves and needs movement to thrive.
What does community mean to you?
Community means to me a safe and supportive environment where you share common attitudes and goals.
What makes the community at Physique 57 special?
The community at Physique 57 is so special because it is a caring and judgment free atmosphere where everyone is encouraged to focus on themselves. As trainers, we pride ourselves in catering to all different levels of fitness in every class. We offer options and variations of movement to meet the specific needs of each individual. You might not look or move like your neighbor, but we are all cheering you on all of the way!
Tell me about your first impression of the workout when you took your first class at Physique.
It was so fun and intense, and I couldn't get enough! I still remember exactly where I stood in the room, and how proud of myself the trainer made me feel when I completed the class. I was so impressed with the care, quality, and passion of both the clients and staff.
What's your vision of it now?
I still have so much fun and 11 years later, can't get enough! From the other side, I can truly appreciate the incredible global impact of Physique57 and how our core values that set us apart from other fitness companies. I am continuously inspired by the strength and perseverance of all Physiquers!
What does strength mean to you and why is it important to embody?
To me, strength means the ability to endure. This is important not just physically but mentally. It is important to build our strength in both capacities to handle all that life throws at us.

Our two new formats have evolved from our signature method to meet the modern fitness consumer's demand for enhanced cardio and strength training. They are built on the brand's proven body-transformation principles and maintain the Physique 57 DNA while deliver fresh, invigorating workout experiences.
Physique Strength: In this class, you will build strength and sculpt your body head to toe with lean muscle. With a heavier set of weights and the best of Physique 57 exercises, we added the fundamentals of resistance and strength training to flex your power and confidence. Burn calories around the clock, increase bone density, and transform your body composition- for life.
Physique Ignite: This workout is a non-stop, fast-paced, interval training class that combines high reps with full body exercises. Start with heart pumping sprints at the barre followed by light weight sculpting to ignite your metabolism and accelerate results.
To be perfectly honest, I love both of our new formats for different reasons. In Strength I am lifting heavier than I have ever before, finding new power which is exhilarating! In Ignite, I love the consistency of the high reps in the cardio sprints that let me zone out of my daily routine and zone into my body and breath.
What do you look for in an instructor when you're taking class for yourself?
(Doesn't have to be a Physique class, just any class you enjoy.) When I take class I look for an instructor who does not teach at the people in the room , but with them. I love individual corrections and modifications that truly push you to your goals rather than blanket statements and crowd control. I also look for an instructor who loves what they do-the energy and care are contagious!
How has Physique impacted your life?
Physique 57 has defined my adulthood. I joined the company soon after college and have experienced every major life change with the strength and grace that Physique has taught me. The body positive messaging, powerful classes, and supportive community have given me a healthy body and mindset.
As a trainer, nothing brings me more joy than helping others find their strength as well!
